Kenol is a rural/urban town in Murang’a County, Central Kenya. Its location is strategic. Right on the Nairobi-Thika highway. It is the gateway to all the major regions north of Nairobi, all the way to Ethiopia.
The population of Kenol/Makuyu area is over 45,000 and growing. Strikingly, though, 50% of this population is under 30 years of age! Besides the population challenge, Kenol is facing other very serious challenges, namely, young people dropping out of school, unemployment, dysfunctional families, teen pregnancies, premature marriages, crime, prostitution, HIV/ AIDS, drug and alcohol abuse.
We strongly believe that God, through Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, has the answer to these challenges. The sooner we face each of them, with His help, the better.
Our Ministry Commitment:
- Evangelism: Urgently reach and evangelize the current generation of children and young people with the truth of the Gospel and lead them to Christ at the earliest opportunity.
- Discipleship: Lifelong radical, authentic, intentional and intensive process of discipleship to reach and transform the community.
- Leadership: Investing in and impacting the next generation of leaders.
Though we face great challenges, we are building Lifespring Church as an outwardly missional church to help impact Kenol Town and beyond.
Our vision – is to be a missional congregation rooted deeply within our community of Kenol/Makuyu for generations to come within Kenya and around the world. (Acts 1:8)
Our prayer – is to be a church that focuses on the Kingdom of God (Matt. 6:33)
Our aim and joy – is to see each person we reach, living a Christ-like fulfilled life. (Gal.2:20)
We, therefore, want to extend to you a unique invitation for partnership and collaboration in our church planting efforts in Kenya. You can partner with us in three areas:
- PRAY – Sincerely pray for our family and ministry as often as God enables you.
- GIVE – Give to support our family and the ministry
- GO – Join us on the ground in Kenya. Short terms trips, internships, special projects
Our objective: Investing in and impacting the next generation, one leader at a time through sharing Christ and lifelong discipleship.
Young people in our area, Kenol-Makuyu, Murang’a Kenya, live in an environment in which they have to individually deal with serious challenges of low self-esteem, moral relativism, nominalism and a lack of reliable Christian role models.
It is to these young people that God has called my family and me. This task is characterized by its abundance, hard work, personal cost and at times very heart breaking! It calls for earnest diligence, persevering, persuasion, plenty of courage and the strength to just hang on!
Our motivation is based on our passion for doing God’s will. A passion for the Great Commission. A passion for children and young people to really know Christ and a passion for developing Christ-centered relationships!
What is so unique about insisting on all this? One big reason prevails: the transforming power of the gospel is not very well comprehended by many. Growing in Christ is costly and very demanding and calls for a very radical commitment. Therein lies the challenge of our ministry. It is unique because it is uncommon! Hence, we must be different!
The words of Paul in Colossians 1:28-29 admonish us when he said, “So we preach Christ to everyone. With all possible wisdom we warn and teach them in order to bring each one into God’s presence as a mature individual in union with Christ. To get this done I toil and struggle, using the mighty strength which Christ supplies and which is at work in me.” (GNB).
A number of things beg for your understanding: The accessibility of Bibles and discipleship training materials are at times very challenging cost wise and sometimes availability. We have to make do with what we have.
Our prayer is that you will join us in the best way God enables you. Your gift of funds or in kind will find a place in helping our young people to know Christ in their day to day life in the long run! No gift is ever small! Should God enable you to come here and minister with us in whatever capacity God enables you, please come!
