Local Outreach

We believe that “missions” is not something you do, but is a way of life. “Missions” doesn’t start when you enter a foreign country, but should naturally happen where you are. So, in addition to our international ministries, we have a local ministry right here in Belton, Texas.

Partnering with local volunteers, mainly UMHB students, we go to two different low-income housing areas in Belton. During our weekly outreach, we play games and have a Bible study with the neighborhood kids.

We have one special event each month, such as Hope Play Days, Sleepovers, and Campouts. We also attend the annual Easter Pageant at UMHB, where they can see the story of Jesus with their own eyes.

We not only focus on playing, but on building relationships and meeting the families where they are. We believe that our ministry is not just with the children, but to the whole family. To implement this, we assist the parents with various needs for their families, such as school supplies, warm coats, Christmas gifts, and other needs as they arise.

As always, if we help meet physical needs, but don’t “share the Bread of Life,” Jesus, then all of our work is in vain. So we make sure the families know why we do what we do: to show the love and provision of Jesus in very tangible ways “to a starving world.”
