Mission Exposure Trip April 2003
In the Kingdom of God there is a banquet table set with rich delicacies. These delicacies are for the children of God who by faith make decisions to sit and partake. The delicacies come in numerous servings and portions. A child of God never knows what is in store at the banquet until they place their feet under the table of the Lord. On Thursday evening May 1, 2003 in the remote town of Ferrier, Haiti, I sat down at the banquet table of God with thirty Haitians and six American men for a feast that will last a life time in the depths of our souls. At one table sat eighteen girls who live in the orphanage known as Light of Truth Orphanage of Ferrier. We each partook of roasted goat, black beans in rice and a soft drink. Also served at the banquet were smiles, words of encouragement, laughter, love and a strong sense of family. The dessert portion of the meal included the girls singing songs of faith and prayers, but the main dessert course was served when the girls and leadership of the home placed their hands on us and prayed for the revelation of God to come upon us with an added portion of His blessings. Praise be to God for the finer things of life.
Thank you Lord for the team of men you assembled. Thank you families and churches that these men represent. Appreciation is extended for your generous support and willingness to release them to follow God's call.

By the will of God working through the Holy Spirit in my soul I came face to face with something God wanted me to experience through a mission trip to Ferrier, Haiti. The focus of the mission trip was to build a roof on an orphanage sponsored by Hope for the Hungry. I was one of seven men that went on the trip. I was called at the last minute by the Holy Spirit to be a part of this team. I was aware of His calling and accepted in obedience. I was asked to study the Gospel of John, because our spiritual leader, Mike Brister was going to focus our discussion times on what we had learned from this book of the Bible. We flew from Houston to Florida and once we were settled in our motel room we were asked to gather at the swimming pool. After a time of praying together the question was asked, ?Why do you think you are on this mission trip?? I responded that I am only being obedient to my Father's call. A picture began to form in my mind of my Lord Jesus Christ from the study of the Gospel of John. My Lord Jesus came on a mission trip, He came to His own, but His own rejected Him. He came on trip full of pain and suffering, but His love for me and the rest of the world was greater than His pain. The mission trip I have experienced was not about the material building that we came to build. Sure the children need a new home, but a more important home was built in my heart. The home in my heart is a spiritual building full of love, compassion and caring. This home is to be shared with the rest of the world. I am ready to answer my Father's call again. As I see it, the people in Haiti are full of my Father's love.

Thank you for inviting me on this trip. It was a trip of a lifetime. If I could change anything about it, I would have prepared more beforehand and asked more questions about food and water. I would have taken more pictures and I would have spent more time with the kids.
I was basically spiritually bankrupt when we set out and I was completely immersed in the logistics of getting the work done. As time rocked on God began to reveal Himself to me and to reveal what He wanted out of me. He did it through each member of the team, the kids, and the overseers: Jean Alix Paul and Mike Brister.
I am truly a better person for having traveled with this group. God is good. I never would have been able to fly to the Caribbean, go to a secluded spot, eat exotic cuisine, hobnobbed with the locals, observed the native flora and fauna, been serenaded by the beautiful girls in the orphanage while being chauffeured around Ferrier. HE arranged this and I will never forget it. I was blessed.

What a wonderful work God is doing in Ferrier, Haiti. Hope is the very best name for what Hope for the Hungry does in Haiti. The children are receiving hope for their lives to improved not only in their living arrangements, but also for their future. Through training, teaching and example they will be molded into disciples and missionaries for their own country. With education they will be equipped to one day have a good job and with income be able to help support this continually evolving and expanding ministry. We should praise God to be part of this work however He chooses us to be involved.
Thanks and God Bless.
