The logo or crest of Hope for the Hungry is an expression of God’s mandate to “share the Bread of Life with a Starving World.” A “Divine Partnership” between God and man to accomplish this goal is expressed through the cross (God) and the hands (man).
Cross: God became the “Bread of Life” through His Son. Christ’s sacrifice is the central truth and driving force of all we do and have.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Hands: We, the hands, are to be obedient to plant, water or harvest as God presents the opportunities.
So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 1 Corinthians 3:7
Roots: Since God has provided freedom through Christ, we need to be firmly “rooted” in the truth of the nature of that freedom and self sacrifice.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Wheat: If we are responsive and obedient to God’s instructions, we will “bear much fruit” for the kingdom of God.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit;apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5
